I loved both of Meghan Quinn's novels: A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant to Be. These are sequels and they complete one another. The plot in both is very Pretty Woman and although they both are a bit on the cheesy side, they are utter fun!
The first book of this series is A Not So Meet Cute. This is when we meet Lottie and Kelsey and the Cane Brothers. Although the novel features the love story of Huxley and Lottie, the other siblings are mentioned as well as they will star in the sequel.
Lottie's grand plan after getting fired (and living with her mom and life partner) is to roam the streets of a wealthy Beverly Hills neighbourhood till she runs into a rich husband. She ends up running into Huxley who is as desperate as she is to find pregnant fiancé in merely four days so that he could follow through on a lie he told a business associate who he wants to strike a major deal with.
While both Lottie and Huxley embark on a banter-filled love hate relationship, filled with sexual tension and mutual attraction they are sometimes aware of and sometimes not so much, the story progresses through the various scenarios they face as a fake engaged couple.
For example they are forced to attend what seemed to be a lamaz class but turns out to be a dry-humping session, they go to dinner at the business associates' house where they need to pretend to be in love and expecting, but through it all, what's so heart-warming and fun is realising along with them the true value of one another.
So if you're looking for a feel-good experience, definitely go get this novel.
In the sequel to A Not So Meet Cute, So Not Meant To Be, the story line is pretty much identical, yet a lot of fun. This time the lead roles are filled by JP Cane, Huxley's younger brother and Kelsey who is Lottie's sister. Once again, they develop a love hate relationship, filled with steaming sexual experiences as they are basically forced to live in the same penthouse in San Francisco on a work trip.
Although in this novel, both Kelsey and JP are definitely aware of the mutual attraction, it's Kelsey who is holding back since she is certain JP is not husband material. He, on the other hand, has done all the wrong moves in the attempt to draw her closer to him. But only when he sheds off his masks and alpha-macho behaviour does Kelsey really fall for him.
Of course not all is perfect in the land of the handsome and extremely wealthy, and there are still some pitfalls in both novels on the way to reaching ultimate bliss, but as I stated earlier these are primarily feel-good rom-coms and they will make you feel just that!
Go get'em!
